Jan so in Daniel when it talks specifically of the Prince of princes and Revelation talks of Christ specifically and what exactly he will do, I am to take it a symbolism? Sure there is no date given and the whole Bible is open to interprtations but when you have such specifics telling us Christ will do this or that, it's no abstract piece of art work.

Well Pow wow - firstly, do we know for sure whether this book was actually written by a Jewish prophet called Daniel or could Daniel actually be a mythical character with the  anonymous author having lived in the second century BCE - and the book having being written long after most of the events had actually happened? (in other words history recorded and not a prophecy of events to come). Regarding the book of Revelation - many believe this to be made up from  hallucinations or nightmares of the author (probably too many magic mushrooms  )

It is down to interpretation. 

Christ is of peace & love - to all of us - even 'our' enemies (as strange as that might seem).

How do you deal with an enemy that is not afraid to die? They have no fear of death - so killing them, in their eyes, turns them into martyrs - gives them the death they want. Violence is not the answer. It just fuels their fire more. No - this needs to be dealt with differently ... if not then it will just carry on and get a lot worse. Humanity will eventually destroy itself! That is not what Christ wants (damn sure I don't want it either - does anyone else?).

Oh and maybe I get extra 'brownie points' also as I have 'led' Church services too

Andy, can you do me a favour and point out where I wrote that Obamas actions are backed up in my Bible commentaries? I don't recall writing such. I do recall telling Jan I will debate any of his supposed Bible contradictions and I will use my commentaries. Two different issues my friend. 'big blob'?    Well just so as you know, on this particular topic, the posters that are usually on different sides of the fence would seem to have come together. It is a very unusual occurence - but for this I guess it speaks volumes in that some views we as posters do hold in common.

I don't think there is any of us on here that would disagree regarding slavery, though regarding your comment on 'the common view' maybe it is more about what resonates within our own hearts regarding Christ?

The pharisees were huge on folowing the law to the letter. They thought that was what made them pure in God's eyes. Christ set their heads spinning like Linda Blaire's in the Exorcist.  It has all to do with ones heart. All to do with a personal relationship with Jesus.

The common view was on the screens to be seen by all as people partied in the street celebrating the death of an unarmed man.  The people who form this blob are united in the idea that it is not fitting, not appropriate and not in line with biblical teaching, though I'm unsure this is the common view.

For example it was popular in Ur during the days Abram lived there, to worship a multitude of gods. Abram went against this "common view". Simple enough for ya eh? I'm no Bin Laden, I wouldn't go about planning the killing of innocent people for the good of Islam. However I am a Cree and we are hunters. So if you are ever starving let me know.
