'Traditional evangelical' and 'Ian Paisley' tend not to equate in my understanding, Andrew.  It's worth investigating IP's theological training path.  The first place he studied - in Barry, S. Wales (not a stone's throw from where I live) wasn't a 'Reverending' institution, and I'm not sure that its successors have been either until very recently.
