Yesterday it was shown beyond doubt that we are the envy of the world with what we have! Look what the Monarchy brings and gives to Britain!?
As Boudi said, the deserted streets yesterday told their own story....not always necessary to be showing it with street parties (but link below shows the street party held in the street or 'park' where my cousins live in Surrey - lots of my family in the pics!)

It frustrates me to hear folk saying the are against the Monarchy - that we should be a Republic! We're not - but there are plenty of places that are.....
Bless you but get real EliB its the poor what pays for the monarchy so if the poor is daft enough to come over all meltworthy then that is up to them... what do they gets in return? a bank holiday a celebrity show on tv an opportunity to spend money they can't earn cos it's a bank holiday

Definitely one of your more patronising posts Ecu, but aside from that, from my knowledge, it's the taxpayer who pays for the Monarchy, NOT the "poor"! And yes, some taxpayers are poorer than others, but there are many, many rich (and doing pretty ok!) taxpayers out there, so NOT exactly accurate to say it's the "poor" who pay - either that or you and I have VERY different definitions of the word "poor"!! Also, who are you calling "daft"? Taxpayers who are happy enough to pay for something that most of Britain is proud of??....or if they aren't they did a damn good impersonation of it yesterday!!!
And as far as "getting real" is concerned - at least I'm living in the world we DO live in and not the one I wished we did - this ain't a republic!!
