Obama Gets a second term
« on: November 07, 2012, 22:18:54 »
I seemed to have lots of friends who were very pleased that Obama has a second term.  Maybe it says something about the type of friends I have.  Seems it was a fairly close run thing, so I do wonder why more friends are not upset.  The people on a  mission to preserve heterosexuality are convinced it was all fixed.

I'm a bit....meh...it's not my country.

So what difference will it make to you personally, and what difference to the world?  Did he achieve what he set out to do 4 years ago?  If he didn't, why did he get a second chance?

Why didn't Ronmeys magic underpants work?  Why is a mormon the hero of people trying to save the institution of marriage?

I am pleased that he got back in - did not think the alternative would have been good for US or the World! I tend to be of the opinion that even though its not my country, those in Power in other countries (especially 'super power' ones), often have some influence on worldly matters. Its usually best that they are caring and level headed as opposed to being war mongers

Also the name Obama - when written backwards is 'Amabo' which is Latin for 'I shall love' ~ so make of that what you will folks  )):
'Amor Vincit Omnia' ?

We still seem to have a silence on the issue of Palestine...though I know that it's a situation where blame is difficult

The surprising thing about US presidents is that, because they can not be elected more than twice, they are not restrained in their second term by neeeding not to 'loose votes', & can therefore often get more done in the 2nd term than they could in the 1st. I am quietly hopeful - but not very as far as Palestine/Israel is concerned after their opposition to Palestine being granted 'Observer Nation' status... - still, having said that, they have said that the move from Israel after the vote to increase the settlements in the occupied territories was'counterproductive' at least, so I guess it is no longer unconditional support for Israel.

Interesting point re the question of re-election.  I hadn't thought of that.  Wish it was the same here.
