http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/sep/02/libya-intervention-british-forces-key

haha... as iraq is to blair libya is to.......?  someone is feeling pretty smug at the minute.... well who wouldn't be oil on the cheap... the future of oil looking rosy.....

yesterdays Times front page was noting the very clear signals that libya libya libya was all about securing oil..... according to the writers who attempted to put the Whitehall dots together former oil man now minister in the middle of there somewhere..

but are priorities correct... i mean if as they do think the priorities of investment of british taxpayers without consent is well spent in the mission to get rid of gadaffi but not according to the legalities of UN resolutions.... is our part in  this a moral abyss of legalisms... which actually we lost thanks Cameron.... or a very clever piece of strategic thinking... in fact is this a blueprint for future interventions according to what we can gain?.....

but more importantly (or not according to your perspective) would the monies have been better invested in non carbon generating energy technologies or non carbon generating energy infrastructure...

the favoring one cause over another of like injustice to me is a moral abyss ... but hey

is Cameron a hero or a not unlike Gadaffi a go it alone abuser of power?

GOD BLESS!

Peace and Love,

OK - YEs, Yes and Yes!
To unpick, Cameron has taken us into another war which was ostensibly about protecting civilians but was actually about regime change - that much was clear from the very start - and I sent an email to my MP about this (which surprises surprise got no response - well he is a tory!) and since we have been successful in achieving the aim of regime change and favourable relations with the new regime (and therefore hopefully better access to oil and to commercial relationships) this will almost certainly be looked on as a precedent and a prescription to follow to further the interests of this country regardless of the interests of the world as a whole - but that is what politics is about.
The money would have been far better spent on alternative technologies. I dread to think how many billions have been wasted in dumping armaments on a foreign country in which we have very little interest apart from oil - or indeed on the infrastructure of this country, thus bringing us out of the recession by providing work for many people. Instead of which, because of all the money being spent on 'smart' ordinance there is not enough for the military wages bill and thousands are being made redundant, putting further pressure on the economy. And yes, Cameron is little better than Ghadafi in his abuse of power in this situation - though he at least had the grace not to lie quite so blatently as Blair did over Iraq!

the juxtaposition of libya and syria in the news is disquieting ... they have stopped talking about some of the other countries....

as for libya am not sure what the future for a country not experienced in democracy

GOD BLESS!
