It is probably down to the thread starter.  At the moment we have the forum set up in such a way that the thread starter 'owns' the thread and so, on any thread you started, you will see a REMOVE TOPIC button.

I'm not sure what our setup is for people who remove their account - do their threads disappear?  I'm not sure.

The one about the riots seem to be getting divisive, and as for the others they were well past their sell by date and not attracting anymore posts so I got rid of them.

If you don't wish people to delete posts you can remove the facility as they have done on another SMF forum on which I post.
