this was another story that headlined the news on the radio though i had to go searching for it in the guardian:

following the fukishayama (?) incidents of earlier this year...  well we've been predictably coalition friendly.... whereas in Germany this has been a hot political football.... the current gov has elected to take very decisive action shutting plants with a time schedule of 2022 for them all to go!....  what is fascinating is that Germany is an industrial nation (unlike our good selves) and has formidable requirement for energy... so to take a big decision like this one in the current climate of questions being asked of the alternatives is a giant step of faith....   shifting the emphasis towards research into alternatives on a pretty tight time schedule....

i guess the question should be ......   what should we be doing here?

er of course if anything at all....:

in an odd sort of way the fukiwotnot saga would vindicate the decision last year not to grant the firm in Sheffield the loan to do high technical nuclear based research (if they the gov having cancelled one lot of commitments from the previous administration not then decided to wheel and deal in their own sweet merry inngland way)  or does it ? is there a legitimate good sense in pursuing the happiness of low carbon energy by nuclear means in spite of all the pitfalls or  what should we be doing ?

afterall the current situation with fuel costs of all sorts for domestic and commercial use is some might say out of control and some are not very hap0py with the  well what we've got ie solve all problems through financial services with a little help from corporate britain .... oh with a little help from some dead victorians maybe? oh and those pesky taxes this time 'environmental taxes:
