Lapdance monastery shut after raunchy nun stunt

Had a bit of a giggle at this one - like something off Father Ted

Quote
THE Pope has shut a 500-year-old Rome monastery and kicked out its monks after it gained notoriety for hosting a performance by a lapdancer-turned-nun and welcomed celebrities such as Madonna.
'Amor Vincit Omnia' ?

i see it's situated in Jerusalem and has an important symbolic history.... dunno about the scandals .. it would be a bit embarrassing if the term  liturgical irregularities was reserved only for homosexual activity ... the report is pretty interpretive rather than factual.....   i suspect on the issue of liturgical irregularities rather a lot of places would have to close ... sometimes the circumstances can be very complex and the actions taken or not taken incomprehensible

it would be a real shame to lose a historic emblem of hope like that

GOD BLESS!

I rather liked the idea of the 'Ballerina for God' thing ... but then there are the  'visions'  of the nun performing Madonna's 'like a virgin'  0o|

Ecu - if you read the article a bit more carefully you will see that it is in ROME, not JERUSALEM - that is just the title.
Interesting that the word 'filth' was used about the monks which in the past has been used to refer to paedophile priests - and that the monks in question were simply relocated to other monasteries in Italy.... and this is the man who was supposed to be so hot about reform!

As far as the nun is concerned and her performances - ecclesiastical dancing is at least as old as the ~Exodus. Pewrhaps the RC should lighten up a bit on that front.

i thought i did skim the article... well nothing new about scandal in the roman monastries then....  some recent stuff about a famous rennaissance artist and  painting

no probs with a bit of prophetic or exstatic dancing as part of the curriculum from me!
