Old power cables
«
on:

I have a boxful of old power cables for computers/printers/radios/..., which I am loathe to simply throw out. Does anyone know of any organisation that uses/reuses them - what do you do with yours? Is it worth the time and effort stripping them for the copper in the wire?

you could try selling them on e-bay or any other online sales portal (if you know what each cable is for, they might sell as spares).
Usually, if the gadget/gizmo that came with the power cable is defunkt, then we may keep the cable (sometimes with defunkt gizmo) for a number of years in a box with other 'stuff' in our garage - just in case it may come in useful .... sometime.

I have boxes of power cables, power points, light switches and goodness knows what else, much still in itd packaging. I am loathe to dump them, and certainly can't be bothered advertising on e-bay. I know charity shops won't take the stuff.

1.Put them on Freecycle.
2.Turn them in to a contemporary form of art somehow?
3.Google for ideas on what other people do with old cables.

With the price of copper being what it is at present, it might be worth stripping the cables if you have a lot of them and selling the copper.

Too much like hard work! I will consider putting the stuff on freecycle.
