britain today...whither to
« on: May 18, 2011, 16:11:09 »
reading two seperate strands of writing ..... with ref to ireland and pakistan and thje indian subcontinent and the middleeast .... britain has a lot to answer forin various places....... so is the rule britannia image of the great imperial past er under the rule of Victoria tories? whiggs? who was now responsible for what? and other monarchs and parliaments...  is it ime to let go of our great british flagship .... can we morally afford to do this .... do we morally owe anyone anything and if so how is this gonna be paid for? ... does the little inconvenience of two world wars in recent years give us something to distract the world from judgement ....

if we are gonna reach forth in C21 what sort of britain is it gonna be and is it gonna be what does britIN  have to achieve first and what is it's focus to be ?

whither now....

GOD BLESS!

Peace and Love,

I notice that no mention has been made of Labour-led 'empire' building, such as Iraq and Afghanistan, even the lead up to the Suez Crisis in 1956.

It should be remembered that, despite our holding a seat on the UN Security Council, as well as at various global economic conferences, Britain has been a 2nd-level (perhaps even 3rd-level) nation for several decades.  Even before the 2nd World War, we were losing our status, which we sort of regained as a result of our standing alone against Hitler for a year or so.  It was a temporary reprieve, and no subsequent Government has really managed to reverse it - although some ideas, such as the NHS, have proven to be world-leaders in their fields.

Britain will continue, as it always has, building on and affected by its past.

Whigs Tories, liberals and Labour have taken us into unfair wars, subjected foreign people, gotten us into debt, and raised  the hopes of the common man.  The idea that Britain can suddenly scrap the past and decide on a new direction is unfeasible, and we can't exactly have a vote on it.
One God - enough for me
