there was a curious discussion on radio 5live on sat night where they weren't entirely sure this was a sensible thing to do.... edwina currie and all that

what though are the consequences? i mean giving the ghurkas some rights has rendered them a little more expensive than was originally the case....

not that i am objecting to the principle oh no not i i mean if the govt is gonna shed it's young folks for the sake of it's image it makes it only fair that the battered ones and returning ones should be looked after

Well - it is fairly toothless in practice so I doubt it will actually have any effect - it only mentions basic principles not how they are to be interpreted...
