There's An App For That
« on: May 12, 2011, 13:23:51 »
Anyone else watch 'The Apprentice' last night?

Was thinking about Apps programs - sometimes I have some good ideas for them, (usually really practical ones that can be useful) but as I have no training in this I would not know how to go about creating them (codes etc). I do have an iPhone and some Apps (free ones) already loaded on it.

Obviously though now there is help online available in creating Apps. One site I landed on

here might be worth looking at. OK they take a cut - they are in business after all, but it is worth knowing what is out there.

Does anyone else have pointers for un tecky folk for creating iPhone Apps?  :)

Having an iPhone can help, as can having a 'smartphone' for using any app!!

I honestly thought a child could have come up with better ideas for apps than the two teams on the apprentice last night. P) shockingly bad!!
The first place to look Jan would be the app store to see if some one has already used your idea, I've had a few ideas, then only to find they've already been done.
I don't know where you would go to find developers of apps, other than the site you've already seen.

Andy - yeah I appreciate what you are saying, but I only have an iPhone so ...
I was actually pointing out that one needs such a phone in the first place - and currently, I don't, nor do I intend to get one soon.  I enjoy using my own brain to work out where I am, where I'm going, how much money I've got (or not got), ... too much.

)):  I don't tend to use mine that much - though its easier to send a text to Duff man if I need to get a message to him if I know he is busy and can't take a call. Same with eldest daughter. Apart from that I hardly use my phone.

Regarding Apps - the  one for finding your way, if a bit lost, has been useful (cant remember what app is  called but it was useful just recently in finding a music shop for youngest daughters electric guitar). Hubby finds some of the games apps useful whilst 'waiting' (usually for me or youngest daughter).  I know though that I won't ever come unstuck if I need to know the ingredients to make any cocktail, or if I want to know a crazy fact  :g:
