Our French separatists want to be an independant country. They want to separate from Canada. However there's a catch. They still want to use our money, they still want to sit in our parliment and the Canadian government must still send pension checks to the people in this independant nation. That's like the guy that leaves mom and dad's houise but keeps stopping around to raid the fridge and do his laundry. Well a couple weeks ago Quebec sent a clear message to the separatists. They have been reduced to two seats in parliment from 50 some. They no longer have party status in Ottawa. For now Quebec separation is on it's death bed. Oh and what really gets me going is they think the aboriginals would have no choice in the matter. I hope your Scotland stays in your United Kingdom. If they don't are you going to change the name? LOL

my knowledge of Canada is pretty sparse ... but i do hear was it South Park or the Simpsons my primary source... that the french in quebec are indeed quite distinctive... maybe all they need is a clever politician or two

GOD BLESS!

Peace and Love,

Don't get me wrong, I love our La Belle province and by my biological father I have some French blood in my veins. They do get clever politicians on occassion. In last provincial vote on separation the separatist provincial government at the time came within less than 1% on winning it. Fool of a leader got drunk that night went before the cameras and blamed the loss on Quebec anglos and ethnics. Separation is at it's lowest level in a long time. No threat of them leaving any time soon.
I think it was south park but Americans have their jokes about us as we do about them.

.... and what with the clever Sammond (me i can't see what folks see in him but it makes a nice change that personality is not an issue)  i'm sure he has many tricks to pull still up his sleeve

No, I've NEVER been able to see what ANYBODY sees in SALMond, but as for him having "tricks" up his sleeve, that's the problem - coz they ARE just tricks.....and folk are falling for them...as shown by Thursday's result!

ironically though am not necessarily a fan and confess id on't know too much but he has convinced of the following qualities:

the ability to go it alone with a minority administration requires great political negotiating qualities and the ability to make allies

the ability toi govern in a way that leaves a sense at least that he is a good manager of what he is given

he is pretty genuinely intelligent and seems to have a pretty good sense of leadership

can you see why i might be a bit envious of you lot up there

GOD BLESS!

Not sure that, in all my politically-aware period (since the early 70s), we've ever had anyone who quite fits those qualities south of the border.
Growing old is compulsory. Growing up is optional.

Have you visited the Garw Valley Railway yet?
