Seve deteriorates

Saddened to see from this report that Seve Ballesteros' health has begun to deteriorate again.  One doesn't have to be a golf 'fan' to realise what loss his death would be.

As sad as his death would be to his nearest and dearest, a loss to what exactly?

No man is an island and every man's death diminishes everyone else - or so the theory goes! (No doubt quite a few could name exceptions whose death would actually benefit the rest of humanity...  :-)  )
However in this particular case he clearly DID revitalise that sport and is a loss to it.

T'fedd, he wasn't from the 'right part of Spain' for golf according to the 'experts', so he was a role model and encouragement for others - in fields other than golf - for those who come from the 'wrong side of the tracks' in any way.
