Techie thoughts
« on: March 25, 2011, 08:35:28 »
I notice that, when you post a message, you are then directed back to the index for that particular section of the site, rather than back to the thread you have just posted to.  Is there a way to change this, either individually through one's settings or at forum level?

I was just thinking the same thing when I saw your post, it is slighly irritating, but no doubt there will be glitches until everything is running smoothly. We will have to give it time to settle down.

I'll look into it.  ???

I pinched the banner from the old place, do hope it's visible for all to see.
Has anyone checked out the various themes in settings?

Got mine looking like twitter.

I've not tested but this should be the solution to the problem you are looking for.

Click on profile/look and layout then check or uncheck "Return to topics after posting by default"

To make the options appear down the left side, as in the pic, click the double arrows << at the top right side of the profile page.

I have had great difficulty getting on to the forum this afternoon. Every time I tried I got the 'too many posts' pop up thingy, I know Pow wow has had difficulty too.

It's the host server, hopefully if enough people complain they will do something about it.

If your look at their record, most months the service's uptime is in the high 90 percents.  March, it seems, has  been  a very bad  month at 83%. Presumably they are doing some reorganising which is causing the downtime. So it's a case of wait and see I think.
It's not just what you're given, it's what you do with what you've got.

Unfortunately, when i tried to contact them via the 'too many posts' message page, my request simply came up as a blank page!!

This web hosting site does seem to be beset with problems,  ::) it has an error message up this morning, and I only got into the forum by logging on to the recent posts bar on the left of the screen.

ecu, when you say stuck logging out, what is happening exactly? I tend to stay logged in, and close the page when I leave.

There are no time restrictions to editing your posts, infact there are very few restrictions on the forum, signatures are restricted to 300 characters and three images.

GOD BLESS!

mc

the probs i was having was that 'oh uh too many posts' message and finding that i was not logged out at all.....

cos i share computters with friends and strangers AND have time limits with computters that most of the time don't scrap sites automatically (which is cool for when you inadverta ntly haven't finished or logged out) ... i prefer to be able to log out  especially whennn...

what no limit on modifying posts!? would it be possible to introduce something like that.... cos i can foresee problems .... like folks changing posts after they have said something praiseworthy or reprehensible.... it kindov confuses discussions... anyhow that's what i think

GOD BLESS!

Peace and Love,
