what no limit on modifying posts!? would it be possible to introduce something like that.... cos i can foresee problems
Seem to remember that we have had such problems on previous sites - though not sure if any of the offenders are actually here now.

the probs i was having was that 'oh uh too many posts' message and finding that i was not logged out at all.....

We've all been suffering from the annoying Oh Uh page of death I'm afraid.
It's difficult to do anything when the server is busy, even logging out.
They are working on the problem, which was caused by a network attack earlier in the month.

cos i share computers with friends and strangers AND have time limits with computers that most of the time don't scrap sites automatically (which is cool for when you inadverta ntly haven't finished or logged out) ... i prefer to be able to log out  especially whennn...

I can appreciate your concerns ecu, if it continues even when the forum looks like it's running fine then holla again and I'll look into it. :)

something like that.... cos i can foresee problems .... like folks changing posts after they have said something praiseworthy or reprehensible.... it kindov confuses discussions... anyhow that's what i think

We can bring limits in if you all like, but as with anything resembling moderation it must go to a vote, so please go ahead and set up a poll thread.

I'm only here to help folk out and do the maintenance on the forum ect, ya see. :g:

GOD BLESS!

I have upped the security on here, as the default settings left us a bit open to the spammers.

Another query.  In the past, and only on some forums, we have been able to highlight more than one post, press reply/reply all, and then quote all the posts within the same response.  I notice that this is not available here.  Is it another of these individual setting things, or is there something within the forum software that can be turned on or off?

Cool ;)

Andy after you click the reply button, if you then scroll down the page you will see an insert quote button on the right side of the page next to each post, It dose not look like it's possible to highlight a portion of a post and use that as a quote, you would have to insert each quote, then delete the bits you don't want to reply to.

hope this helps

Going back to the OP, and your response "Click on profile/look and layout then check or uncheck "Return to topics after posting by default", can you tell me which of those options is supposed to return you to the thread as I have tried both and it doesn't seem to make any difference!

Hi Andrew , the "Return to topics after posting by default" box will need to be checked

Could be that your browsers cache needs clearing.. Try closing it and opening, then see if it then works.
It did not work for me the first time I checked the box.

Only trouble is that it then stopped working on the replies I posted to other threads after that reply! - I don't know if that was because I had opened the threads before re-setting the preferences through..
Hopefully it was because this again returned to the thread. If I have further problems I will let you know!  :)

one calmly bemused ecuworrier....

help is there anything that can be done about this?

i have just spent two hours attempting to post not once but the second rewritten post... only to find on both occasions that i could not post cos i had logged in for 60 minutes on both occasions and by the time i came to post i found myself logged out... is there a way that there can be a 5 minute warning or something come up to remind us where we are ...

that would be helpful obviously we can copy and paste if we feel in danger of being timed out... cos of using shared computers i am reluctant to sign in for a day

anyhow this is me ... i would be really fed up but am oddly well Relaxed GOD is in Control...

GOD BLESS!

Peace and Love,
