And the Irish were invading the British mainland long before that as well.  Not to mention all the other Irish invasions that have continued over the centuries - to Liverpool, London, the South Wales Valleys, etc.   w:

Still not really sure what the RIRA/CIRA/etc. actually mean by the UK withdrawing from Ireland.  Does it mean that the UK has to take out all the money that it has ploughed in over the years (not to mention its proportion of the current bale-out funding); does it mean that Protestants living in the North have to leave their homes and 'return' to their ancestral homes in various parts of the UK; does it mean that said people stay in the North, but become disenfranchised because they want to remain part of the UK; ... ?
