role models
« on: June 01, 2011, 18:54:39 »
some kids were researched as to who theri role models are... well this is only natural .... what with the media going on about rooney and john terry and becks and all that and causing mayhem with all their froth and anger on the behaviours of the folks that hardly constitute role models for the journalists!  so... what do the kids say the ones that play sport.... well it was the people directly in their lives that had the influence and gave the inspiration to develop sporting prowess....  i was further amused when a young essex cricketer who is still at school but being drawn into the county side was asked who the players that most influenced him were... he had no hesitation in answering that the sri lankan left armers were the ones he had studied most.....  yeah! thought i thinking that ..... the media have completely got just about ev eruything wrong in what we are exposed to.... the youngster talked with some awe about conversations he had had with the retired sri lankan bowler playing in northants... Chaminder Vaas...

so with the media being absolutely no use whatsoever in providing us with role models...

who are ours in growing up ... or things we aspire to or are interested in?

GOD BLESS!

I don't remember having any role models as a young person, or now. I never wanted to be other than just me, for better or worse!

i cannot imagine you were not influenced in some way or other for better or worse... i think this whole role models debate or discussion is not always about who we would like to be like or why so much as the actuality of folks around us indeed do shape us one way or another and though we may not copy them we are indeed influenced somehow...

GOD BLESS!

Well I suppose there were some people in my life whom I didn't want to be like, but I honestly can't think of anyone I did want to emulate.

makes me feel a little old this game cos having spent a bit of time on this question... yes i was greatly influenced by the cultural experience of exposure to that generation of nitwit dogooders of the seventies the secular but deephearted spiritual arm of folks who thought and tried to do good by folks....  another couple of folks...  who by theri deeds did the good samaritan for me as a gesture of spiritual good

oddly there has always been this Christian feel to folks who are non christian that spontaneously act ... whether it is social justice ; forgiveness; generosity and reaching a hand out.... and i guess the Jesus theme is embedded in there and informed me of who i am...

hmmm i wonder why?

it is interesting ....do i know any real live christian role models? ... within the corpus of my everyday life i struggle to think of any who have made that level of influence though many have made their mark

GOD BLESS!
