the beeb coverage has been shocking!.... they certainly have been covering it ..... but covering this story has demonstrated the editorial bias of the bbc... it's presumptions .... 'it certainly looks like alquaida therefore it must be alquaida...' well Cameron what a chump  and the whitehouse were certainly with them on that....'   it's complete incredulousness in a foreign country seeking it's own values and ways of doing things...and not being british about it....

there was something about it the bomb blast that reminded me of Wallender..........  as i caught the news yesterday afternoon

what has been tragically great has been that without an event of this magnitude of bad news we would not be learning what amazing folks the norwegians are ... how good they are at english ... how measured they are not jumping to conclusions how almost stoical they tell the real lif e story... the politicians actually care and that is their role ... but they actually care... they have levels of honesty and engagement unimaginable in this country ... oh would things be different here if ... only if.....  but no the beeb seems to think that the norwegians have got it wrong and that they should be adopting the ways that we have allowed ourselves to be entrenched in and political values and ideals well .... how can it be that summer camp sponsored by a political party is anything but a place of indoctrination....

...well done the norwegians! sorry for your loss!

how do they manage to arrest the guy alive? the tall blond norwegian....   far right? does anyone have a sense of relief that he is 'only' a fundamenatalist evangelical christian?

does that give one a sense of relief that christians are engaging in politics at last!..... with a will do attitude of great logic and forethought... that he is able to carry off a shocking event with great loss of life and great publicity that he is able without hesitation to shoot the brothers and sisters of his country cos he fears for the politics of the mainstream left.. that he can influence politics by removing the numbers ... well there's more and bitterly i say so  logic there than some of the things they can come with  ?

anyhow seems i'm the only one affected?

I don't know what beeb you were listening to/watching but it wasn't the same one as I was listening to!
When it was breaking news (which is when I was listening) they seemed to me to be being very level-headed about it.
As for the Norwegians, yes, they are very calm and do indeed speak English very well - better than many Brits in fact! When my father was stationed just outside Oslo (NATO posting) he thought it would be polite to try to learn their language - he tried it out on the check-out girl who smiled at him and said " that was very good, but wouldn't it have been easier in English?" !!!!! After that he rather gave up...
Before the last war they used to be taught German as their second language, but they had such a rough time from the Germans during the war that they switched to English...

obviously it is very sad and our hearts go out to those who have been affected by this.

I think it was the BBC we were listening to on the radio. What kind of baffles me is the style of questioning - asking about feelings etc - when surely the answers will be obvious. Its like they don't really know what to ask, so its just going through the motions. That is how I felt whilst listening anyway. Switched it off. Too depressing :(
'Amor Vincit Omnia' ?

well the beeb has nothing better to do than focus on an event many miles from here ... and er practise their disaster reporting... as Jan says... well clearly they er need the practice!  do they know something that we don't?... i do wonder why what's going on in brit is of no interest... is cameron dining now with the chair of the beeb by any chance?

find the biog stuff pretty interesting the guardian today covers the story ....  two folks on the radio reminisce albout school days.... one remembers the quiet intelligent guy the other remembers the focused weight lifter able to focus on long term plans with diligence and dedication intelligetn quiet generally good social skills ... they thought he was quiet cos he was concerned about being misunderstood....  he came from the priveleged quarter... so was a success product of norwegian society..

anyways
