Futbal mondial FIFA scandals or not so scadals oh and we did not get the world c

the discussion of FIFA Sepp Blatter and corruption or not corruption certainly has the media exercised and they is all busy with making this the headline news story outside of beyond the news bulletins ...

actually do we care?  should we care? is football really that important?

when asked why we didn't take a lead in protesting about the statusquo of FIFA apparently it's cos we don't have much clout and that's cos we is seen as aloof and arrogant... surely not!

the current structure is around 200 federation national  members and an executive that has it's members appointed from the various federations eg concaf uefa etc....  the president gets appointed by election and Sepp blatter of incredible stickability (apparently nobody else wants the job!)... now seems to me that the only thing that we want to know is how does he do it ... and how can someone who was only a few months ago being well and truely courted by such VIPS as david beckham oh and one or two young pretenders ... it was embarrassing that even with our outstanding bid we didn't get chosen what a scandal was that and now that we didn't even though we thought we wuz playin all the right games of the mystery ettiquette sounds quite kafkaesque we is well and truely pissed off and now we is busy exposing .... well what exqactly surely FIFA is about world football and like it or not we is only one 200th worth of self importance...  is this really a topic to pursue by our media or should we just well... dunno really...

me would prefer that all this effort and energy were dedicated to british politics and british stuff there's plenty of stuff that might have us hot under the collar

well they did it... the innglish and the scots tried to get a delay for the vote of president .... they got 17 votes of approval and 17 abstentions so i guess that counts as pretty popular!.... 

sepp blatter made another lengthy speech i have to say he is pretty good at public speaking .... and promised action like changing the voting system for the world cup bids... and a whole pile of stuff....   will this appease the innglish media ? who knows... now about our sweet FA

We need to remember that the traditional footballing nations (and t0 applies to others sports as well) are becoming increasingly side-lined as interest in the game goes global and as power in a whole raft of areas) shifts away from the West.  Unfortunately, the power is shifting towards societies where corruption is endemic.  It is interesting that the investigation into accusations that Blatter colluded with a lot of the corrupt practices that others are accused of took less than 24 hours to complete, whilst the accusations against the only other person to stand for the Presidency have yet to begin and he has been suspended until such time as they are investigated.  Double-standards?

the Times  Matthew Syed did a feature today about all those double standards pointing out that the innnglish sweet fa was guilty of breach of the rules in it's lead up to the world cup vote then cried wolf when it didn't get it's way... so basically would we have said anything if we had been awarded the world cup..... as for our own bid ... cameron and prince william... vigorously supported our bid in spite of the breach of rules of our own sweet fa....  doesn't say a lot for our own leader's morals

corruption is nothing new in this country even with checks and ballances in place but perhaps it is a higher class of perpetrator that gets away with stuff....  so that's ok ....


there was said at the time of the wc vote to be loads of reasons not to support the bid of inngland  which was though a technically good bid ... let's face it a self serving one...  we do have a really unpleasant attitude when it comes to football exemplified by our media ... (not complaining about the panorama investigation or it's timing.. but hey instead of soul searching we is out to get the enemy out there... groan!) but hey they say they give us what we want to hear so who is actually to blame?  and who cares

i do agree it would have been better protocol to await the outcome of the investigations and appeals and all that for the alternative presidential candidate.... 175 votes for Blatter is a pretty strong majority....   dunno who voted against...  but britain doin talk but not walkin the walk hardly helps it's cause....  i have no idea what goes on in the heads of all the other fas  or why there were not a pallette of presidential candidates... seems being head of fifa is a minority sport.... it looks on the outside if hardball has been played somewhere what with all the suspensions and sackings....  however who says football is a clean sport.. there are far too many anomalies as we say in our own suystem for it to be a fair or participative sport.... too much money too much silliness too much gambling too much debt and we was robbed.... by the decisions made on the field of play... aggennn!
