This looks like it could be a good film, the Internet movie database gives the film  a 7.5 rating.

This film may be tough for much of the American audience. There are long stretches of minimal dialogue and more filmed prayer than I ever recall seeing.

Martin Sheen's "The Way" also sounds interesting.  It follows a father who follows the Road to Compostela as he comes to terms with the death, on the same pilgrimage, of his estranged son.

Note that the director - Emilio Estevez, who also plays the estranged son - is also Sheen's real-life son (Sheen was born Ramon Antonio Gerard Estevez).
