Please pray for our pastor
« on: August 08, 2011, 17:50:17 »
Please pray for our pastor.  Whilst packing up at the end of New Wine on Saturday, one of the bungee straps he was using on their trailer snapped and hit him across the face.  He was knocked out for 20 or 30 seconds and nastily cut across the cheek.  Fortunately, his wife was able to drive with the trailer, so they were told that they could come home provided she drove.  I saw him this morning, and he is still somewhat hazy - clearly the result of some degree of concussion.  He is due to spend a couple of days this week with his TA unit, before the the family drive down to France for 2 weeks' holiday next week.

Oh shame for your pastor - shocked by the smack.  I hope he recovers quickly and takes it easy.

i'm honestly not quite sure what you are asking us to pray for... that a christian pastor takes part in wargames... trains to got to war (the TA can be called up you know)
my first reaction was a sense of GOD being in control...

i certainly pray for God's relationship with him to be thorough and fruitful as i do for every Christian and even not christians too!

GOD BLESS!

Peace and Love,

Ecu, while I would also very much prefer for there to be no armed forces, that is not the position - and they DO need pastoral care while on active service; therefore there is a need for pastors in the services.

However I hope he (and/or his unit Commander) had the sense to say no on this occasion! - and, of course that he has recovered fully while on holls.

Will pray for your pastor Andrew!
I also agree that there's a very REAL need for pastors in the Armed Forces - and there is ALWAYS going to be a need for us to have Armed Forces!
The CofS my sister goes to in Aldershot has a minister who is an Army Padre.

And Ecu - I'm not sure the TA would thank you for referring to what they do as "war games"!

Andy's pastor rather than mine, but yes!
Much as I deplore the perceived need for armed forces, I can't see a situation where we do not have them in this world. There are (IMO) ALWAYS better ways of settling conflicts, but sometimes people will not accept that route, and other people are not prepared to wait... (possibly with good reason - I grant that willingly). However I do feel it should always be an ultimate last-resort solution, and, sadly, I do not believe it generally is.
Regardless of that, while there are armed forces, they definitely do need pastors.
