legislation brought in under previous administration should now be brought to enforcement....  mmmm i see that this refers to treatment of personal data as a commercial asset ..... should the law be broadened..

also is there a case for not doing quite so much capping of the police budgets... they seem to have an awful lot to do

GOD BLESS!

Yes it probably should be broadened, but enforcing what is already there would be a start!
As for the Police budgets - so do all other emergency services, the NHS, teachers, the armed forces etc etc - where do you draw the line?

you think in civil society we don't need to make real live value choices?... that we can recruit numbers of people in all departments on a flexible budget?....   like they are casual staff... i think we invest in society as a whole with public service and i don't think we can be trivially simplistic about cutting corners without a carefully thought out and likely to be effective plan B just to make some numbers fit..

or can you?

I think you misunderstood me. I was not suggesting that we do not need to make tough decisions. What I was saying is that I see no real reason why one sector of the public servants should be singled out out to not be cut which you seemed to be advocating for the cops.

seems according to this editorial that this part of the public service has been duly sacrificed... like the tories did previously doing away with beat bobbies.. that poarticurly impacted certain communities from which residents are still recovering... seems to me that what the tories truely stand for is laissezfaire attitude to lawlessness and if you can't buy your own security and insurance tough!... oh and then they wheel out tough speeches... though they now have kindly ken  to upset the apple cart to show that actually none of them care about anything but their own priveleges but hey!!  what i dislike is that there have been scant public debates on the matter ... no currently our eyes are turned to Norway and Cameron would have us looking about us for terror threats... and political extremists... though i kind of like thye idea of all the christian evangelicals being rounded up...   more opportunity for soul destruction and for goodness sake don't discuss what's going on around  you politically!

GOD BLESS!
