Following the inquest jury finding that Ian Tomlinson was unlawfully killed, I'd like to open a tangential debate - about the effectiveness of the Crown Prosecution Service. When we remember that the CPS initially said that there was insufficient evidence to charge the policeman involved, the jury's findings seem to be in conflict with this.
Is it time to review/reconstitute the CPS?
Is there anything we can learn from the Scottish experience - don't know what the system is up there, so can't go beyond that.
