The recent spate of SMF errors has been due to emergency action needed because of an imminent disk failure.

This is what they said:

As you will have seen the last 3 days have been hard on our servers, unfortunately our drive on server 1 was failing, we had to act quickly which is why we didn't have any advance notice, if we did not act all users data would have been lost (although we have backups would have taken much longer to move over)

I wonder why this problem didn't occur on the other SMF forum I am a member of?  As for my being the most prolific poster here - this might be the first post I've made in several days.  I find that this place is becoming too parochial and predictable.  Oh well, better sign off and go complete two sets of accounts I've got to get ready by tonight!!
