The petrol companies will say that their charges are a reflection of the price at which they bought the oil which has since been refined and is now in the pumps - i e that there is a lag between the price of crude falling and that of petrol falling. The funny thing is that I have not noticed a huge lag between the price of crude rising and that of the petrol rising....
