Britain will continue, as it always has, building on and affected by its past.

Whigs Tories, liberals and Labour have taken us into unfair wars, subjected foreign people, gotten us into debt, and raised  the hopes of the common man.  The idea that Britain can suddenly scrap the past and decide on a new direction is unfeasible, and we can't exactly have a vote on it.
