I once gave my wife a card showing a pair of 'flappers' on the front with the caption 'This new Gin & Tonic diet is wonderful. So far we have lost three days!
Actually an awful lot of countries lost something like 13 days when the switch was made from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar in the middle ages so this is not exactly a unique occurrence.
