Well, there was at least one cardinal at the wedding itself. I assume Catholics were as happy as non-Catholics.

The street party issue is a bit of a red fish.  You only really needed to apply to have one if you needed to shut off the road ( in case of emergency access).  Josh went to a party with a whole cul-de-sac filling the road.  They never applied for a permit because there was no need.  People opposite me had a party, but it was all in their huge garden
