Who knows what has happened between William and Kate pre-marriage - and who really(!) cares? IMO, that's THEIR business! Yes, when he's King (and I'm thinking it's a when not an if! Am also hoping it skips Charles but that's another topic!!) he'll be the Head of the Church of England, but he WON'T just be King of England - and that's what I think a lot of people forget! It's not a case of "Inngland and all the rest"! That kind of statement might be made in jest but is actually quite offensive - particuarly when so many English people DO talk about the "Queen of England" - Michael McIntyre has been saying it again and again during his BGT judge stint!!!! The Head of CofE is a "name only" kind of title - therefore, IMO, way down the list of priorities from the duties of the Monarch.
I think today has been a great day for Britain! Yes, it's brought in lots of tourism revenue and will continue to do so....we don't really have any street parties around here but many shops with bunting and streets very very quiet earlier today!!
I also think William and Catherine(!) will be great ambassadors for our Nation (William already is!) and I don't see any problem with his "persona and public" image for the role of Monarch!
